Civil Partnerships

In the event of separation from your civil partner, it is not necessary to dissolve your civil partnership (unless you wish to enter into a new civil partnership), but doing so may provide a greater degree of financial certainty in the future. Dissolution proceedings involve an application to the Court which will bring the civil partnership to an end. Except in unusual circumstances it will not be necessary to attend Court.

An Order within dissolution proceedings is the only way to resolve financial claims as a consequence of a civil partnership.
